Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011)
PG-13 | 2h 16min

Jack Sparrow and Barbossa embark on a quest to find the elusive fountain of youth, only to discover that Blackbeard and his daughter are after it too.

As my RD for this week comes to an end, I treated myself to a POTC marathon after watching "Transformers: The Last Knight" earlier.

It's intriguing to witness a different take on mermaids in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, as I was more accustomed to the Ariel-type mermaid portrayal :P. The concept of the Fountain of Youth got me wondering – does it actually exist? And if so, could it be lost or concealed somewhere, waiting to be discovered?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017)
PG-13 | 2h 9min

Captain Jack Sparrow searches for the trident of Poseidon while being pursued by an undead sea captain and his crew.

I was thrilled to see the other two main characters make an appearance at the end of "Dead Men Tell No Tales." It left me wondering if this signals the conclusion of the series or if there are more installments to come. I can't help but anticipate what the future holds for the Pirates of the Caribbean saga.

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017) on IMDb

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
PG-13 | 2h 29min

Autobots and Decepticons are at war, with humans on the sidelines. Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.

"Transformers: The Last Knight" is a visually stunning spectacle that continues the epic saga of the Autobots and Decepticons. As a dedicated sci-fi enthusiast who has followed the franchise since its inception, I found the film to be a mixed bag. While it offers thrilling action sequences and impressive special effects, the convoluted plot and excessive CGI can be overwhelming at times. The presence of Bumblebee remains a highlight, adding heart to the chaos. Overall, it's an entertaining addition to the Transformers series, but it may leave fans longing for the simplicity and charm of the earlier installments.

The Mummy (2017) on IMDb

The Mummy (2017)
PG-13 | 1h 50min

An ancient Egyptian princess is awakened from her crypt beneath the desert, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension.

Tom Cruise being the lead, makes me feel like watching MI with a horror twist. :P

Wonder Woman (2017) on IMDb

Wonder Woman (2017)
PG-13 | 2h 21min

When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, Diana, an Amazonian warrior in training, leaves home to fight a war, discovering her full powers and true destiny.

Amazing movie/story, it left me wanting to be Wonder Woman :P. Can't deny the chemistry between Chris and Gal, and it made me sad to see him died in the story.  I wished they could have let the story ended that both the characters have spent couple of years together. But yeah, I know that Chris' being heroic have lead to Wonder Woman releasing/discovering her utmost power, so the story had to be ended that way.

The Beautician and the Beast (1997) on IMDb

The Beautician and the Beast (1997)
PG | 1h 45min

A New York City cosmetologist, mistakenly thought to be a science teacher, is offered a job to teach the children of an Eastern European dictator.

I stumbled upon this movie on HBO HD, and honestly, there weren't many other appealing movies on different channels. Although it's been two decades since its release, the comedy in this film feels a bit outdated, but surprisingly, it still manages to tickle my funny bone, especially because you don't come across such humor nowadays.

Doctor Stranger (2014) on IMDb

Doctor Stranger (2014)
Dakteo Yibangin (original title)
20 episodes

As a child, Park Hoon (Lee Jong-suk) and his father were kidnapped by North Korea. In North Korea, Park Hoon was trained to become a doctor by his father who was already a famous doctor.

Second KDRAMA of Lee Jong-Suk for me. Didn't thought that the series or the story will keep me interested. If only, I started watching this on the first day of my rest day then I could've finished this in just a day or two.

Though, I like him more on W: Two Worlds, because (1) he's more manly, he's better with a little more weight; (2) can't get enough of the chemistry between Lee Jong-Suk and Han Hyo Joo that I wished hard that they could continue off-cam :P. I didn't feel the chemistry between Lee Jong-Suk's character and Jin Se-Yeon on this series, I felt it though on scenes between Lee Jong-Suk and Kang So-Ra.

Overall, it's a good story and worth watching.

Oh! My Lady (2010)

Shortly afterwards, she finds another job at a musical production company, learns a secret about Sung Min Woo, and convinces him to work on the agency's musical, and becomes Min Woo's handler for that agency as it prepares to put on a musical starring Min Woo..

After a whole month since my last KDRAMA series, I finally dived into this one on Wednesday night, and it hooked me so much that I couldn't stop watching until Thursday morning. Then, on Thursday evening, I continued my binge-watching spree until Friday morning.

I had asked Ame to download this series for me because I missed the chance to finish it when it aired on our local TV station. The downloaded copy has been sitting on my laptop for a month, waiting for the perfect moment.

While watching, I had a flashback to why I discovered Choi Siwon's "Who Am I" version. It was in this very drama where I first heard that soul-stirring song. I was so moved by it that I searched for it on YouTube and found that it was originally by Casting Crowns. Interestingly, Choi Siwon's rendition had a more profound impact on me than the original.

Finally, after all these years, I've completed the series, but I must admit that I was left a bit disappointed with the ending scene. I had higher expectations, hoping for something more. Nonetheless, the overall experience was worth it!

Aladdin (1992) on IMDb

Aladdin (1992)
G | 1h 30min

When a street urchin vies for the love of a beautiful princess, he uses a genie's magic power to make himself off as a prince in order to marry her.

Upon watching Lea Salonga and Brad Kane's singing "A Whole New World" again after 2 decades. It prompted me to watch Aladdin again :). Watching this movie brought back high-school memories, nostalgia.

Looking back then I was amazed with the animation. But comparing it now with today's animation, like Frozen, it shows how animation has improved over time.

Bride of the Water God (2017)
Habaekui Shinboo (original title)
16 episodes

The Water God Habaek visits earth to fulfill his mission with the help of his servant in the human world, named psychiatrist Yoon So Ah, whose ancestor have promised to serve The Water God for generations. Unfortunately she doesn't believe in the gods and mistakes him for a delusional patient. Things get even more strange, when The Wind god Bi Ryum, The Water Goddess Mu Ra, and Demi-God Hu Ye shows up to complicate things. What will happen now.

My second Nam Joo-Hyuk KDRAMA series experience. I was filled with anticipation to watch this series, despite the negative feedback. I was eager to see him again after his role in Weightlifting Fairy, as I believed Nam Joo Hyuk would do justice to his character.

The second male lead, Lim Ju-hwan, also delivered an outstanding performance in his role. He connected deeply with his character, especially during the dramatic scenes. This marks the second series I've watched where he played the second male lead, and each time, he showcased his impressive acting skills.

However, I can't say the same for the female lead. I couldn't help but wonder if the series would have been better with a different female lead or if the first choice had been accepted.

Baywatch (2017) on IMDb

Baywatch (2017)
R | 1h 56min

Devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon butts heads with a brash new recruit, as they uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay.

Watched the TV series like almost 2 decades ago. This movie is way too different from the old versions with Drama Action theme, while this one is more on Rated R scenes and a lot of comedy scenes.  I can't stop laughing on the hilarious "Let me Help You" part.

Uncontrollably Fond (2016) on IMDb

Uncontrollably Fond (2016)
Hamburo Aeteuthage (original title)
20 episodes

When Shin Joon-Young (Kim Woo-Bin) and No Eul (Bae Suzy) were children, they were separated and became heartbroken. As adults they meet again. Shin Joon-Young is now a top actor and singer. He is intelligent and attractive. No Eul is the PD of documentaries. She values money over justice and kisses up to those with more power than her.

Another recommended KDRAMA from my colleague America.  Initially, I didn't want to watch this, because I know that this is all drama, but she insisted.  I'd say that this brought me to tears, most of the episodes.  I was so gloomy, that I felt I'm going to be sick and sort of lost interest in doing the usual things I do on my Rest Days.  Though the lead female character shows us to be resilient, maintaining the positive attitude towards life, despite the negative/hardships/obstacles.

Death Note (2017) on IMDb

Death Note (2017)
1h 41min

A high school student named, Light Turner, discovers a mysterious notebook that has the power to kill anyone whose name is written within its pages and launches a secret crusade to rid the world of criminals.

Didn't like this version over the Japanese Live Action.  Though I still managed to finish the movie till the end.
